Yellow Ribbon, Wild Pigeon, Leaving Fear Behind

Today seesthe beginning of the second decade of the 21st century. We are gathering hereto express our continuing resistance against the tyrannical rule of the ChineseCommunist Party, our contempt for such a coward regime that dare not listen toany dissent voices.

In particularly we want to draw attention to three cases inwhich the practice of freedom of expression have incurred harsh punishment fromthe CCP regime: Chinese writer Liu Xiaobo, who has been sentenced to 11 yearsrecently for drafting Charter 08; Uighur writer Nurmuhemmet Yasin, who wasarrested in 2004 and sentenced to 10 years in prison for the publication of hisshort story Wild Pigeon; and Tibetan filmmaker Dhondup Wangchen, who has beenjailed for making documentary Leaving Fear Behind which recorded views fromordinary Tibetans of the Beijing Olympics.

People like them and their families deserve our deepestrespect and solidarity. They inspire us to continue our fight for freedom,human rights and democracy. To the wild pigeons, we offer our yellow ribbons,leaving fear behind.

On 1st January 2010, Chinese, Uighur & TibetanSolidarity UK and supporters will be protesting against CCP’s suppression ofthe freedom of expression. We will be calling for the immediate andunconditional release of all prisoners of conscience including Liu Xiaobo,Nurmuhemmet Yasin and Dhondup Wangchen.

今天是21世纪第二个十年的开始，我们在此继续公民抵抗，反对中共暴政，抗议因言治罪。

请关注中共践踏表达自由的三个案例：汉族作家刘晓波，因起草《零八宪章》，最近被判处11年徒刑。维吾尔作家亚森因发表短篇小说《野鸽子》，在2004年被捕，并被判处10年徒刑。藏族导演顿珠旺青，因制作纪录片《超越恐惧》，反映普通藏人对北京奥运会的看法，被投入监狱。

我们对三位良心人士及其家人深表敬意。我们将继续争取自由、人权和民主。
