Newspeak

In an appendix to his novel 1984, Orwell gives a description of Newspeak.  It is a language based on English but it makes discussion or even thought of freedom or rebellion impossible by the removal of words and phrases.  The book 1984 and Newspeak were intended as warnings by Orwell about how the world could be moving.  Since the book was published in 1949 Orwell's frightening vision has become even more relevant as a warning.
