Did you vote?

I have just walked down the road to vote in the local and European elections.  When many politicians have been found with their snouts in the trough it is easy to get cynical and to feel that no politician can be trusted but I feel that it is a duty to vote.  I think of people in this country and elsewhere who have fought hard and even given their lives in campaigning for the right to vote.

I once met someone who was related to a suffragette who threw herself in front of a horse in a race.  It was Emily Davison who threw herself in front of the horse in the Epsom Derby of 1913 and she died a few days later.
