AIUK Recruitment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
AIUK Recruitment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
EMPLOYMENT
1. I’m interested in a career in Human Rights or working with Amnesty. How can I apply?
We receive many inquiries from individuals with excellent experience and relevant studies looking to work in Human Rights or with Amnesty. However, we only have around 200 employees so are not able to provide as many employment opportunities as we would like. All our available employment opportunities are advertised at amnesty.org.uk/jobs.
2. Can I submit a speculative application or send my CV?
No, we do not accept speculative applications or CVs. To ensure fairness and reduce the potential for bias, we operate an anonymised application process. All applications must be submitted through our portal for specific roles.
3. What should I do if there are no current job openings that suit my skills?
If there are no suitable roles currently available, we encourage you to check back later or register on our portal to sign up for notifications when vacancies are posted. Our associate organisation, Amnesty International Secretariat, also advertises opportunities here.
4. Does Amnesty International UK offer visa sponsorship for employment?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship. You must reside in the UK to volunteer and must reside and have the right to work in the UK to be employed by Amnesty International UK.
VOLUNTEERING
5. How can I volunteer at the Amnesty International office?
We do not support the practice of offering volunteer opportunities that are similar to paid work. Occasionally, we offer suitable volunteering opportunities at amnesty.org.uk/volunteer. Additionally, you may wish to enquire at your nearest Amnesty bookshop for available volunteering opportunities.
There are many ways to get involved with Amnesty International UK, more information can be found here.
INTERNSHIPS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
6. Does Amnesty International UK offer graduate programs, internships, or student placements?
We do not run a dedicated graduate or internship program. Suitable entry-level vacancies are advertised when available. Student placements or work experience at Amnesty International UK are arranged exclusively through our partnered educational establishments and are not open to new or external applications. You may, however, be interested in joining our local or student groups.
7. How can I improve my chances of being selected for a role at Amnesty International UK?
We recommend reviewing our guidance on applications and interviews, which may be useful for any role you apply for.
