The slaughter in Aleppo is happening before our eyes. The children under the rubble, their screams, and their terror are played on our screens every day. Deliberate attacks on children and hospitals are ongoing. They cannot be dismissed as ‘collateral damage in a battle against terror'. It is a systematic attack on the laws of war. Urgent Action update: Shawkan's trial adjourned until 1 November in Egypt
A Cairo court adjourned to 1 November the trial of photojournalist Mahmoud Abu Zeid, popularly known as Shawkan. He is a prisoner of conscience facing nine trumped-up charges and is at risk of the death penalty, if convicted.
