A community of approximately 1300 Romanian Roma is facing an imminent forced eviction from the informal settlement of Gianturco in Naples, in southern Italy.

Four young children and their mothers are seeking asylum in the US after escaping horrific violence in their home countries. They have been held at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement centre in Pennsylvania for over 500 days despite having pending applications for legal permanent residency.

Urgent Action good news: Okinawa activist released on bail after five months

Hiroji Yamashiro, 64 years of age, has been released on bail after five months in detention without being able to see his family. Arrested for his role in protests against new U.S. military construction projects in Okinawa, his next court hearing is scheduled for 27 March 2017.

Urgent Action update: Egyptian prisoner in solitary confinement on hunger strike

Ahmed Amin Ghazali Amin has been on hunger strike since 9 March, in protest against his solitary confinement, which he has been held in since May 2016, when he was sentenced to death by a Military Court. An appeal hearing is still due to be set. If rejected, he could be executed at any time.

Urgent Action update: Two Sudanese dissidents interrogated for activism in Saudi Arabia

Two Sudanese nationals, who till 13 February had been held incommunicado in Saudi Arabia since their arrest on 21 December 2016, have been interrogated by the Saudi Arabian authorities about their social media activism and are now awaiting trial.
