Use Your Voice: Amnesty Youth campaign

USE YOUR VOICE

Use Your Voice

Amnesty Youth campaign

Amnesty UK is inviting young people to Use Their Voice and share their ideas for the positive change they want to see in their communities and beyond, helping to uplift human rights for all.

Use Your Voice is your space to speak openly about what needs to change, share ideas for a fairer world and work with Amnesty UK to bring those ideas to life.

From conversations in school to speaking directly with decision-makers, your ideas will help shape a national Youth Manifesto led by young people across the UK.

Young people have always been agents of change. Now more than ever, we need your ideas, your energy and your vision in order to drive real change on the issues which matter most to young people.

Listening Activity

Amnesty Youth have designed a simple activity for everyone to get involved with at your schools!

The postcard activity is the first step of the Use Your Voice campaign and it starts with one thing: listening

The purpose is simple: to find out what young people in your school care about, what problems they’re facing, and which issues they think need attention. This helps you understand what matters before jumping into ideas or solutions.

Listening is how real change begins. You can’t fix a problem if you don’t know what it is, and the best way to find out is to hear directly from the people living it.

Your job is to get these postcards into as many hands as possible, across different year groups and different spaces, so you get a real and honest picture of what students think.

Follow these steps

  • Identify your team: Who are you working with to kick-off Use Your Voice at school?

  • Identify your goal: How many postcards do you want completed by February 2026?

  • Identify your targets: To reach your goal, which other student groups or youth groups outside of school will you share postcards with?

  • Distribute your postcards: Now that you have your team, your goal and your target, it’s time to start distributing! What’s key to remember here is that this activity will only be a success if you remember to collect your postcards after people compete them – you may want to set up a ‘ballot box’ at school or organise collection times at a specific classroom or during lunch break, this would also be a great chance to meet and chat with people interested in Use Your Voice.

  • Submit them to Amnesty: Submit your postcards to Amnesty.
