How an Arms Trade Treaty can help prevent armed violence
This report examines how an arms trade treaty (ATT) can make a contribution to the prevention and reduction of armed violence. It briefly discusses the definitions of armed violence and several forms of armed violence documented in recent years. It also examines the role an ATT can play in preventing and reducing those forms of armed violence in which conventional arms are used and which result in serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law.
