Amnesty International UK submission to Windrush Lessons Learned Review Progress Update

In March 2020, Wendy Williams, Independent Adviser to the Home Office Windrush Lessons Learned Review published her report and recommendations. Amnesty UK had made a detailed submission to that review.

In September 2020, the Home Office published its response.

In October 2021, Wendy Williams issued a Call for Evidence for her review of the progress by the Home Office on responding to her report and implementing her recommendations.

Amnesty UK's submission to that Call for Evidence is available here. In brief, we are not convinced that the department is making significant progress or that there is real prospect of that. The reasons for that start with the leadership and policies that are provided by Ministers, from the Home Secretary down, and which persist with the same or similar cultures that have long undermined or even prevented any progress of the sort that is needed.
