Snooper's charter being sneaked through in 'Trojan horse move' Amnesty warns

Responding to powers being sought in an amendment to the Counter-Terrorism and Security Bill being rushed through the Lords today, Rachel Logan, Amnesty UK’s Legal advisor said:

“The controversial terrorism bill is already being rushed through at break-neck speed and now the ‘Snoopers’ charter’ is being sneaked through with it, disguised as an amendment. It’s a Trojan horse move.

“Peers and MPs alike should be furious about this brazen attempt to by-pass normal parliamentary oversight.

“The snooper’s charter, roundly rejected in 2012, must be laid out like any other bill would be, so that the country can properly debate it.”
