Guantanamo Bay: Amnesty International UK issues new declaration at national conference

This was the declaration issued by Amnesty International UK from its national conference in Manchester today (Sunday 4 April).

The Amnesty International national conference, attended by 600 delegates, heard a moving speech by Azmat Begg on Saturday 2 April, and the conference was also attended by Jamal al-Harith, one of the British nationals released last month from Guantanamo Bay.

Mr Begg’s speech, in which he detailed the detention of his son Moazzam in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Cuba, received a lengthy standing ovation from Amnesty International delegates.
