Experts available to comment on Syria refugee numbers

Amnesty International experts are available to comment on the Syria refugee situation after the United Nations refugee agency said that the number of Syrian refugees has now surpassed two million since the crisis in Syria began.

This figure has doubled in the last six months alone and the rising flow of refugees into neighbouring countries has sparked what Amnesty describes as “a desperate humanitarian crisis” in the context of “the most severe forcible displacement crisis in recent history”.

Amnesty’s researchers have been monitoring the plight of Syrian refugees in various locations, including at the Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan, and are available for interview:

Neil Sammonds, Researcher on Syria

Charlotte Phillips, Researcher on Refugee and Migrants’ Rights

Please contact the Amnesty International UK media team to arrange an interview (ISDN available).
