The Amnesty International Global Award for Human Rights Journalism

The award is a chance for non-governmental organisations to nominate an article that has raised awareness and understanding of human rights issues whether local, national or international.

Each NGO can nominate a maximum of three entries each. The closing date for entries is Thursday 19 February 2004.

Entries will be judged by an international panel of judges including Beatrice Mtetwa, a Zimbabwean human rights lawyer, Robert Menard, Secretary General of Reporters without Borders (RSF) and Fatema Mernissi, a Moroccan author and University lecturer.

The award ceremony will take place at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Piccadilly, London on the evening of Thursday 13 May 2004 and will be compered by Joan Bakewell.
