We are looking for someone with a strong interest in the education work of Amnesty International who is keen to gain experience in supporting volunteers.
About the role
The Human Rights Education Unit is part of the Community Organising, HRE and Events team, and provides a broad range of teaching and training materials, resources and training in a variety of formal and non-formal educational settings.
The Amnesty Speakers Programme supports over 120 volunteers to deliver inspiring talks and workshops, encouraging children and young people to become engaged with Amnesty campaigns and human rights issues.
We are looking for office-based volunteers to assist with administrative and communication tasks related to supporting a group of volunteers who are part of the Amnesty Speakers programme.
This role provides the opportunity to volunteer for a leading international human rights organisation. This particular role will give you the experience in areas like relationship building, volunteer coordination, database skills and an understanding of the UK education sector, particularly related to human rights education.
Your tasks would include responding to queries and enquiries relating to the Amnesty Speakers Programme, supporting Speakers in the planning of sessions, researching subject matter and assisting Speakers with administrative tasks relating to their involvement in the programme.
You should have a strong interest in the education work of Amnesty International and in providing office-based administrative and communications support. You should also have a high standard of written English, a good telephone manner and inter-personal skills, good accuracy and attention to detail.
We are looking for someone who is available for approximately 14 hours per week starting as soon as possible in July 2019 for a minimum of 3 months. Days of week and hours are to be agreed (must be available to volunteer in the office on week days).
We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
