Chris Riddell, the 2015–2017 UK Waterstones Children’s Laureate, is an award-winning children’s illustrator and author as well as a long-term political cartoonist for The Observer. His work has earned numerous accolades, including three CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals and the Costa Children’s Book Award.

A committed activist, Chris has used his art to promote human rights and social justice. He has contributed to multiple Amnesty projects, including My Little Book of Big Freedoms, illustrations for We Are All Born Free, Dreams of Freedom, and a graphic story in Here I Stand, helping to make human rights principles accessible to children and young readers. Through these works, he champions the importance of freedom and equality from a young age.
