Zeinab Jalalian May Face Execution

Monday 7 December 2009

Roozonline: Zeinab Jalalian is a 27 year old woman who has been sentenced to execution by hanging, on the charge of enmity with god. She is currently awaiting the implementation of her sentence in Sanandaj prison. She was charged and sentenced because she cooperated with the political group, Pejak, despite the fact that Zeinab denied the charges against her. According to those close to Zeinab, she was involved with the group PKK, but did not engage in armed conflict, only in promoting the Kurdish political group.

An informed source explained to RoozOnline, that Zeinab ran away from home when she was only ten years old, and subsequently joined the P.K.K. She ran away from her home in Makoo, in West Azarbaijan province, after her family disallowed her from continuing her education and going to school. She joined the P.K.K at a time when this Kurdish group worked freely in Iran and in the border provinces of Kurdistan. Many youth like Zeinab were recruited by this group in the same manner and at that time.
