Thomas Paine on the BBC

As previously blogged in more detail, the BBC is broadcasting a two-part radio play on the life of early human rights advocate and activist (and much more), Thomas Paine.

First part was broadcast today on Radio 4 as its Saturday play: These Are the Times: Common Sense.

According to the Beeb blurb:

"A Life of Thomas Paine, by Trevor Griffiths.

Penniless, Paine arrives in America as the struggle for independence is beginning. His ideas and his writings take him straight to the heart of events and his words are read out to Washington's army."

Available here on iPlayer for the next week. If you get a chance to 'listen again', let me know what you think.  Second part next week.
