Juliet Stevenson

"Amnesty was one of the first NGOs I heard of in my teens – it’s always been a light, so I feel proud of any connection with it. How it has sustained its integrity as a trusted and vigilant voice for human rights over the years is amazing."
Juliet Stevenson

Juliet Stevenson is one of Britain’s leading actors and a long-standing human rights advocate. Stevenson has performed extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, and is known for screen roles including Truly, Madly, Deeply and Bend It Like Beckham, as well as her acclaimed work in radio and audiobooks. She was awarded the CBE in 1999. In addition to her Olivier award, Juliet has been nominated a further four times and is five times BAFTA nominated for her film and television work.

Juliet has worked closely with Amnesty International UK for many years, lending her support for campaigns supporting the abolition of the death penalty, the rights of refugees and asylum seekers, and is a leading voice for artists who are demanding an end to Israel’s apartheid and support for Palestinian human rights. Her activism includes participation in high-profile actions such as the Save the Human Rights Act campaign (2015), and ‘I Welcome’ petition and paper chain action supporting refugee families (2017).
