The Amnesty bookshop - Hammersmith
The Hammersmith bookshop first began as a small stall in the Hammersmith & City Line tube station, set up by Amnesty members Christine Pain and Dick Langton to help raise funds for local campaigns. Before long, it moved into rented premises on King Street, and although it has changed locations three times since then, it has remained a much-loved and familiar part of the community. The shop is supported by a dedicated team leader and a wonderful group of volunteers, some of whom have been with us since the very beginning, and its success even helped inspire the opening of more Amnesty bookshops across the country.
