Submission to the Home Affairs Committee on Harnessing the potential of new digital forms of identification

Amnesty's short submission draws on the experience of introducing a mandatory digital-only proof of identity and status system for migrant people in the UK (eVisas).

It raises the twin concerns regarding transfer of control from the individual to the State and transfer of risk from the State to the individual that arise from this mandatory digital-only system.
