Letter to Minister for Border Security and Asylum concerning asylum and enforcement, January 2025

On 9 January 2025, Amnesty UK wrote to the Minister for Border Security and Asylum concerning various matters relating to the asylum system and enforcement.

Our letter included recommendations for achieving a fair and efficient asylum decision-making system, repeals of immigration and asylum legislation passed under the previous Government, and regarding how the Government manages its enforcement responsibilities. We also raised concerns about the pause on deciding claims of Syrians seeking asylum.

Included with our letter was a joint briefing with the Project for the Registration of Children as British Citizens (PRCBC) concerning British people subjected to deportation proceedings with recommendations and case studies.

The Minister replied by letter of 25 February 2025.
