Amnesty UK briefing for House of Lords Second Reading on Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill
Amnesty International UK has produced this briefing for House of Lords Second Reading on the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
The briefing sets out how the Bill constitutes a missed opportunity to set a new tone and approach on immigration policy, particularly as it relates to asylum and modern slavery.
Unfortunately, the Bill maintains a longstanding fixation of immigration policy on deterrence and enforcement against refugees and victims of human trafficking. By repeating the same basic approach of the past it is likely to lead to the same or similar bad outcomes.
