Amnesty International UK submission to the Joint Committee on Human Rights legislative scrutiny of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill
This submission sets out some key human rights concerns relating to the Borders Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill. In this respect, it is not comprehensive.
Concerns addressed include: (1) the new offence of endangering life at sea; (2) the retention of some provisions of the Illegal Migration Act 2023; (3) the new power to impose severe restrictions on freedom of movement within the UK on any migrant person who is not settled here; and (4) the retention of asylum provisions of the Nationality and Borders Act 2022.
