Amnesty International UK Briefing on NC1 & NC6 to Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill (Safe Routes))

New Clauses 1 and 6 concern the need to establish safe routes by which people fleeing persecution may seek and receive asylum without dependence on dangerous journeys and smuggling gangs.

This briefing provides support for the establishment of safe routes by explaining the need for these in practical, moral and legal terms. It addresses arguments presented against establishing safe routes and explains how these do not fit key commitments and objectives of the present Government.
