A Photo of Lyse Doucet in Syria

Lyse Doucet is the BBC’s Chief International Correspondent and a senior presenter who has been reporting from around the world for the past four decades. In her reports on BBC TV, radio and online, she has often focused on the human cost of major political conflicts and natural disasters.

In recent years much of her time has been concentrated on the punishing wars in Ukraine, Gaza, and Afghanistan but she has also tried to be on the ground in places which get less of the world’s attention including Sudan and Yemen. In the darkest of places, she has tried to find stories which illuminate people’s lives and stubborn hope.
