Commenting on the far right violence targeting migrants and people of colour in Epsom, Reem Abu-Hayyeh, Campaign Manager at Amnesty International UK said:

"Epsom has shown us the same brutal scenes playing out again and again: violent racists targeting innocent and vulnerable people, organised on social media platforms cashing in on division and hate, funded by billionaires who scapegoat migrants and people of colour."

"Let's be clear. The far right and their big tech backers do not care about the rights and safety of women and girls, only sowing hate and division."

"The Government must do more to tackle the dangerous cycle of politicians and commentators giving a megaphone to fringe far right ideas, and emboldening those who enact violence on our streets.

"Online platforms must be held accountable for allowing engagement-driven algorithms to spread hateful content, threats and misinformation."
