Women’s March: Resistance, Uprising, Solidarity

This month marks the first anniversary of the death of Cao Shunli, a Chinese human rights activist who died in police custody on 14 March 2014. To memorise Cao Shunli, artist Johanna Zhang has created paintings and prints that reenact the moments when Cao fought consciously against her fate.

March also marks the 56th anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising against the Chinese occupation. Tibetan women, like Tibetan men, have never given up the hope for freedom.

Join us for a private view of Johanna’s exhibition “Women’s March” at the Gallery Cafe, to cherish women’s resistance, uprising and solidarity.
