In May 2015, we held a live Q&A with Edward Snowden from our London offices - connecting via Skype to Snowden, who was exiled in Russia. Hosts Tanya O'Carroll (Amnesty International) and Eric King (Privacy International) put questions to the whistleblower, which you can watch back with in this video.

In 2013, Edward Snowden revealed that around the world governments are illegally and unnecessarily spying on our internet and phone use. They are storing our private information. In the wrong hands, this could put us in danger.

Without Snowden we simply wouldn't know the sinister extent of global mass surveillance. But the US wanted to jail Snowden for exposing these human rights abuses.
