AIUK submission to the Public Accounts Committee inquiry on An Analysis of the Asylum System, which opened in December 2025.
The submission identifies how a primary aim of 'deterrence' has caused asylum policy under successive governments to deliver outcomes that are unjust, inefficient and costly.
The submission also considers the consistent findings of the National Audit Office analysis of the asylum system and explains how these relate to the primary aim of 'deterrence.'
