Message of thanks from freed Bahrain teacher, Jalila al Salman

Posted

Jalila al Salman is former Vice-President of the Bahraini Teaching Union. She was locked up in April 2011 for calling for a teachers’ strike to support growing calls for reform in the country, but released after pressure from Amnesty activists around the world. She recently recorded this message of thanks to everyone who took action for her and for her colleague Mahdi ‘Issa Mahdi Abu Dheeb, who remains in prison.

Last November, we asked members of our text action network Pocket Protest to take action to call for all charges against Jalila to be dropped and for Mahdi ‘Issa Mahdi Abu Dheeb to be freed. Find out more: teachers locked up after calling for a strike
