Joint AIUK and PRCBC submission to Justice and Home Affairs inquiry on Settlement, Citizenship and Integration
Overview
AIUK and PRCBC made this joint submission to the Justice and Home Affairs Committee's inquiry on Settlement, Citizenship and Integration.
The submission provides critical analysis of the Government's 'earned settlement' proposals, A Fairer Pathway to Settlement.
The submission considers the proposals and their impact on children's citizenship rights. It draws attention to the Government's failure to give any or any adequate consideration to these rights (and therefore to children and their best interests) in formulating proposals that would have a potentially devastating effect by enlarging existing harm done to children (including children born in the UK) by neglect of their rights to British citizenship.
