FREE-Syria event on 'What Syrians want'

Survey of 50,000 Syrian’s views will be showcased and discussed

On Tuesday 19 May (7-8.30pm) Amnesty International UK is hosting an event with the Syrian activist organisation FREE-Syria on the theme of “What Syrians want”.

FREE-Syria (the Foundation to Restore Equality and Education in Syria), along with more than 100 activists inside Syria and abroad, have conducted a survey of more than 50,000 Syrians to determine what Syrians want. 

Overwhelmingly, FREE-Syria found that those they canvassed in Syria said they wanted “freedom, equality, and democracy for all Syrians.”

Rafif Jouejati - the founder and director of FREE-Syria as well as the English spokeswoman for the Local Coordination Committees in Syria - will be outlining the findings of the FREE-Syria survey at the event and taking questions afterwards. (For more information on the project, go here).

The event will be introduced and chaired by Kristyan Benedict, Amnesty International UK’s Syria Campaign manager.

The event - which will start promptly at 7.00pm, with doors open at 6.30 - will finish at approximately 8.30 and be followed by a drinks reception.

The event is free, though booking is recommended.
