Overview

One of the ways we can have influence as a human rights movement is to engage powerholders at the local level to do more for human rights, how we engage local councils has a huge role to play in this.

Local councils can be especially impactful targets for political advocacy for a number of reasons including the role of councillors in shaping national policy and the local culture around human rights through the way they use their platforms. Crucially, they also play a role in delivering human rights at the local level.
