Who we are
We are the local Bury St Edmunds Group of Amnesty International UK, which is part of the worldwide human rights organisation, Amnesty International. We value your involvement with the Group and will make every effort to deal with the personal data you entrust to us, in a fair, lawful and transparent manner.

Your personal data
This is the information which you have given to us with your consent, to allow us to contact you about news, events and group activities which may be of interest to you. This data is your name, email address and telephone number. We will also record any particular interests in being involved in group activities, that you tell us about. Your personal data will also include records of any subscription payments you may make, which we are legally obliged to keep.
If we wish to make any other use of your personal data, we will ask for your consent beforehand.
How we process your personal data
In line with the General Data Protection Regulations 2016 (GDPR) the Group acts as data controller. In this role, we will work to keep your personal data up to date, we will only collect and keep information that is needed, and we will store it securely to prevent loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. When personal data is destroyed, this will be done in a secure manner.
Sharing your personal data
We will not share your data with any third parties unless you have given your explicit consent.
How long do we keep your personal data?
We will only keep your personal data for as long as you choose to stay in contact with the group, that is, until you notify us that you wish to opt out. We will review our records every three years and if you do not respond to us at that time, your records will be deleted. Financial records will have to be kept for as long as is statutorily required.
