Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch

Welcome to the Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch Amnesty local group page.

We have been campaigning in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch since 1986. We've held many events over the years - art exhibitions, music festivals, garden fetes - participated in many campaigns and taken many actions.

We do regular letter writing, run stalls at local events such as the Peace Festival, Great Community Get Together Bournemouth and now Poole Pride. We have good local community links and we are involved in anti-racism and refugee support activities.
We also hold fundraising and awareness-raising events, including our annual pub quiz.

Our campaigns

We have always focussed our campaigning on various human rights issues arising in South America and Europe. We are signed up to those Country Coordinator led teams. Our current Case File (long term campaign) is the Warriors for the Amazon, a group of young women and girl in Ecuador.

We regularly respond to Urgent Actions and other campaigns and issues highlighted by AIUK. We take particular actions related to thematic or regular events - such as Refugee Week, International Women's Day.

Every December take part in Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign, sending greetings cards to prisoners of conscience, their families and other human rights defenders around the world. We always have stalls in a variety of locations to engage the public in this event.

Ways to get involved

We would be pleased to have your support with any of these campaigns. It is not essential to attend the group meetings to take part, as these can be effectively undertaken from home.

Check our website and sign up to our newsletter to find out what we are currently doing and find out how to get involved. We will also post updates and engage with you on the Community Platform soon.
