Final Event Day Tips Packing, Preparing and Nerves

Pack Your Race Day Bag

Get your kit organised early. You’ll need:

For travelling to the start:

  • Old clothes to stay warm before the race (you can donate them afterwards)
  • Bin bag (in case it rains)

For your kit bag (to collect post-race):

  • Post-race snack
  • Warm, comfy clothes
  • Wet wipes
  • Clean socks or comfy shoes

Night before the race

Lay out your kit and take a photo - it’s a great way to boost your fundraising!

You’ll wear kit you’ve already trained in, including your Amnesty running vest. The only new additions are your race number and timing chip (which might be on your bib). Pin your number to your top the night before.

Set a couple of alarms and try to get a good night’s sleep. Don’t worry if you’re too excited to fall asleep quickly - just lying down and resting is enough.

Race morning

Whether it’s your first or 50th race, nerves are normal. Stick to the routine you’ve practiced.

  • Eat breakfast even if you don’t feel hungry
  • Stay calm and focused
  • Trust your plan, you’ve got this!
