Less than 10 days to demand justice for Moses

Update, 30 Sep: It's our last day to influence the Governor, and we know his team are feeling the pressure - they're deleting your messages from his Facebook page so that the wider Nigerian community can't see details of Moses' case.

We need one last massive push of messages - send a Facebook message and tweet to ask Moses death sentence be commuted

For many 16 year olds the worst thing imaginable is homework and school exams. But Moses Akatugba was full of hope for the future as he anxiously awaited his school results, until his life took a terrible turn.

On the 27 November 2005, Moses was arrested by the Nigerian army, accused of stealing three mobile phones. He says he was tortured - shot in the hand, and taken to a police station where he was beaten and hung from a ceiling fan for hours.

After eight years in prison, forced under torture to confess, Moses was sentenced to death by hanging.

On 1 October it is Independence Day in Nigeria. A day when traditionally the Governor of the Niger Delta, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, overturns death sentences for a few selected prisoners. This gives us a real chance to save Moses’ life.

You can help - send the Governor a tweet or Facebook message

Emmanuel Uduaghan is on Twitter and Facebook and with just a few days it's vitally important we make our campaign as public as possible. With just two clicks you can join us and make your voice heard.

Send a tweet
