Who We Are

As a global movement of over ten million people, Amnesty International is the world’s largest grassroots human rights organisation. At Amnesty UK (AIUK), we investigate and uncover human rights violations, hold governments and institutions accountable, and support those whose rights are under threat. By mobilising public support and working in partnership with organisations and initiatives that share our values, we create long-term systemic change for the most vulnerable among us.

The Major Funding Partnerships Directorate seeks to inspire and engage companies, trusts, foundations, institutions and philanthropists to financially support Amnesty International’s vital human rights work in the UK and internationally. The Directorate is pursuing a dynamic, bold and ambitious fundraising strategy for 2025–2030.

Context

Amnesty UK has a strong and well-recognised brand, and we know there is significant appetite among UK businesses to be associated with human rights values. However, our corporate partnerships programme has not yet reached its potential. We have existing relationships with a number of companies, but have not yet developed the proposition, tools or pipeline depth needed to convert these and new prospects into substantive, income-generating partnerships.

Our ‘Make Human Rights a Vote Winner’ campaign — launched at the end of 2023 and our most ambitious domestic programme to date — offers a timely platform for brand partnership. It is designed to shift human rights from a background concern to a live political priority, and it creates concrete opportunities for companies to associate with that agenda in a way that is meaningful, credible and commercially relevant.

The Project

We are looking for a consultant or agency to help us develop a robust corporate partnership strategy and the practical tools to deliver it. We need support in understanding what has and hasn’t worked to date, defining the right proposition for the right partners, and producing materials that our team can use to approach companies at the right level of seniority with a clear and persuasive ask.

We are mindful that corporate partnership decisions are rarely made by the first person we speak to. We need a strategy and supporting materials that can travel through an organisation and make the case internally, as well as externally.

Objectives of the Assignment

The primary objectives of the assignment are:

  • To review our existing corporate partnerships activity, assets and pipeline, identifying gaps and areas of opportunity.
  • To develop a clear and commercially grounded partnership proposition that articulates the value of working with Amnesty UK in terms that resonate with corporate decision-makers.
  • To produce a framework for identifying, evaluating and prioritising prospective partners, including criteria relevant to our values and mission.
  • To research and map the UK brand landscape, producing a prioritised prospect list with recommended approaches for each.
  • To develop a suite of outreach and pitch materials — including a credentials overview, messaging guidance and email templates — that our team can adapt and use across different prospect conversations.
  • To consider how partnership opportunities might work at a local or regional level, in addition to national brand partnerships.
  • To ensure all outputs are documented in a way that supports a smooth handover to our incoming Corporate Partnerships Manager.

What We Need

A consultant or agency able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience developing corporate or brand partnership strategies for charities, advocacy organisations or other purpose-driven bodies.
  • An understanding of how companies approach partnership decisions — including the internal dynamics, risk considerations and approval processes involved — and the ability to build propositions and materials that work within those realities.
  • Experience in prospect research and the development of partner evaluation criteria.
  • A track record of producing high-quality partnership materials, including pitch decks, briefing documents and outreach communications, that are practical and ready to use.
  • Familiarity with the UK corporate landscape and an understanding of how human rights or values-based positioning lands across different sectors.
  • A competitive fee structure — please include your proposed pricing (fixed fee or day rate) and a summary of your terms and conditions.

Submission Details

Please send us a short overview of why your consultancy or agency is well-suited to this role. In your proposal (no more than 2 pages) please address each of the points listed under “What We Need” above, with relevant examples of previous work where possible.

Submissions should be sent to [email protected] by the closing date above.

Considerations

We will consider applications from individuals or firms based anywhere in the world, but please do get in touch before submitting if you are based outside the UK as there may be data protection and taxation considerations.

The successful consultant or agency will be required to enter a contractual arrangement for a supply of services. This will not constitute employment for tax purposes, and the agency, consultant or freelancer will not be entitled to our employee terms and conditions.

Apply for this role

This vacancy advert may be taken down from job boards earlier than the stated deadline if a high standard of applications is received (if you have started an application in our portal, you will still have opportunity to complete it by the original deadline).

We welcome applications from everyone and particularly encourage applications from people from an ethnic minority background, and people with a disability to help us achieve a balanced representation in our workforce, especially at senior grades.

To reduce bias in our shortlisting process. AIUK operates an anonymised application process. If for any reason you prefer to apply in a different format, or require adjustments in the process, please get in touch. To support all candidates to perform their best at interview, we send questions 24 hours in advance. We are a disability confident organisation.
