About Us:
Amnesty Feminists is a volunteer-led network within Amnesty International UK dedicated to defending the human rights of women and girls through activism, advocacy, and awareness. We are explicitly intersectional, trans-inclusive, and sex-worker inclusive, challenging systems of patriarchy, racism, colonialism, capitalism, and ableism.
Join our volunteer activist community and help drive meaningful change. As a committee member, you'll work alongside passionate activists in a collaborative, non-hierarchical movement where your contributions and ideas directly impact our campaigns and collective action.
This Opportunity
Our Events Team manages all activist events, including our International Women's Day Event, and other events that support our campaigns.
We're seeking an organised and passionate Events Officer to deliver impactful, inclusive (in person and online) events that advance women's rights and build an activist community.
Your Responsibilities
- Coordinate venues, speakers, materials, resources and ensure smooth event delivery; rally people and make things happen!
- Remove barriers to participation; ensure our events welcome diverse communities and create safer spaces for all
- Build relationships with aligned activist groups and sponsor organisations; create collaboration and solidarity across movements.
- Keep track of other feminist events happening that might be of interest to the network.
- Gather feedback from participants, evaluate our impact, and share learnings to strengthen our collective organising.
- Join our bi-weekly online meetings and in-person meetings approximately every 2 months (travel costs reimbursed).
- You must be based in the UK to become an Amnesty Feminist Network committee member.
What We Offer You
- A supportive group of peers who are passionate about feminist activism and committed to working collaboratively.
- Comprehensive onboarding and training from Amnesty International UK.
- Opportunity to input into the focus and objectives of the Amnesty Feminist Network.
- Tailored training, mentoring and networking opportunities based on your needs and interests.
- Reimbursement of travel costs for in-person meetings and events.
Save the date: Successful applicants will be asked to attend an in-person induction day for all lead activists at Amnesty International UK (in London) on Saturday 29th August. Travel expenses will be covered.
