Human rights aren’t guaranteed everywhere, but we believe in a world where they are. A world where everyone enjoys their rights freely, is treated fairly, and lives without fear. Since 1961, we’ve defended the human rights that protect us all.

How we make a difference
We campaign
For over 60 years, we’ve been exposing human rights abuses and building pressure to end them.
We stand up for people here in the UK, and around the world, no matter who is responsible.
We educate
Access to a fair trial. The right to protest. A free press. Your human rights were fought for.
But these rights are under threat.
Corrupt people and institutions are quietly eroding or blatantly abusing our rights.
We can only speak up for our rights when we know what they are.
That’s why Amnesty is dedicated to ensuring everyone knows how to defend their human rights.
We investigate
When people’s basic rights are abused, our research teams make sure that the perpetrators don’t get away with it.
We combine independent field research, first-hand eyewitness accounts, survivor testimonies with forensic data like satellite images.
Our evidence is watertight so that human rights violations cannot be ignored.
Together, we make sure that perpetrators are brought to justice, no matter how powerful they are.
We stand together
Whether we’re campaigning for decades to secure long-term change, or fighting to save one person from unjust imprisonment, we don’t back down. And neither do our 10 million supporters.
We won’t stop until there is justice, freedom and equality for all.
