For over fifty years, we’ve been campaigning for human rights wherever justice, freedom and truth are denied. In this role, you will support the work of our Campaigns team, assisting them in the delivery of our key campaigning priorities.
About the role
The team has a fixed-term full-time vacancy, until end of March 2019, for a Campaigner to support the delivery of our key campaigning priorities.
The Campaigner will help coordinate and deliver the work of the Human Rights in the UK Priority Campaign in support of the Campaign Manager.
The Campaigner will be leading on discreet projects and initiatives as well as playing a key supporting role in the campaign. They will work to ensure that the different strands of the campaign are progressing, supporting the delivery of the work by teams across AIUK; they will be organising key actions, events, and stakeholder meetings; providing general support to the Human Rights in the UK Campaign Manager; ensuring that internal meetings are organised, attended, and minuted; and undertaking other tasks deemed necessary to deliver our ambitious plans.
You will have experience of working on large, public facing communications projects from either a campaigns, communications, advocacy or activism team. You will be a self-starter, with excellent organisational skills, a passion for human rights, and an understanding of how to help make change happen in the world.
You will need first class interpersonal and communications skills and have a history of organising successful events or actions. You will be confident in managing relationships across Amnesty and among our partners, and be as comfortable speaking at a public event as in a meeting with senior staff and members.
An understanding of campaigning theory and practice, as well as of human rights in the uk issues would be desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, fairness, freedom and truth wherever they are denied. Already our network of over seven million people is making a difference in almost every country in the world. Whether we are applying pressure through powerful research or direct lobbying, mass demonstrations or online campaigning, we are all inspired by hope for a better world. One where human rights are enjoyed by all.
