Letter re Regional Conference
Dear Amnesty Supporter
We would like to invite you to our forthcoming North East & Yorkshire Regional Conference. We hope it will be an interesting and sociable occasion for all concerned and we would be delighted to welcome you to it.
You will hear about Amnesty International, about the human rights situation in Turkey from somebody who really knows and from the Rohingya themselves. There will also be an opportunity to have a say on how Amnesty International is run, especially in the region.
We are holding the conference in Darlington so that Amnesty members and supporters in the North East in particular can come and join us.
When:Saturday 9 March, 10.30 - 4pm.
Where:The Friends Meeting House, Skinnergate Darlington, DL3 7NB
Booking is essential for this event but is free and open to all.
Refreshments wii also be provided.
This event is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to stand up for human rights in your community and for us to share our ideas and our passions. it will be a welcoming event, whether you are an Amnesty veteran or are completely new to the movement – as well as giving the opportunity to meet other activists and create a movement in the region.
Content of the conference
Although organisers aim to make the conference suitable for as wide an age range as possible, it is worth bearing in mind that the conference is not a youth-specific event. Issues that may be covered during the event could include hard-hitting content on many issues such as, for example, violence against women and sexual/reproductive rights. For this reason, we think the conference is suitable for people aged 14 and over. Anyone under the age of 14 is welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.
The venue is completely accessible, as are the toilets, but, if you think this is going to be an issue, please contact Rod Heath by email at email@example.com
In the meantime, you may find Amnesty's national website interesting at www.amnesty.org.ukand it's worth searching for your nearest local group.
I look forward to meeting you in Darlington on 9 March.
Regional Representative for Amnesty International for Yorkshire and the North East
