May Meeting Updated
We shall hold our May meeting on the 10th May at 7.30pm, a week later than normal. Steph Maguire is Chairing and hosting and she has invited Nabila Khan from Amnesty to speak to us on the plight of the Uyghur population of China and their apparent forced assimilation. This is a classic subject for Amnesty's attention so let's give Steph and Nabila our wholehearted support. We'll be using 'Microsoft Teams' for China because Zoom is not completely secure. Let us know if you need the link.
National AGM 2021 is on Saturday 19th June. Every paid up member of AI has received full details about the AGM and resolutions by post. The group votes will be decided at the beginning of the June meeting.
Saturday 29th May Amnesty Guildford Walk to celebrate the founding of Amnesty, starting at 11.00am. Donation £5+ each. The walk will start at the Amnesty tree in the park on Meadway opposite the side of Debenhams (where the Alice in Wonderland statue is on the grass with the rabbit) and continuing through Millmead to enter the park and walk along the towpath towards Shalford Park. We'll follow the river Wey round returning on the other side. Walk will be approx two and a half miles and take about an hour. Walkers should bring their own picnic lunch.
