March meeting update
Monday's talk went very well with visiting speakers Debora and Laura from Amnesty International and excellently chaired by Monica. They spoke of the arbitrary arrest using catch-all laws by government agencies in Egypt focussing on several cases which we will deal more with over the coming weeks and Laura spoke of several groups in armed conflict over political power. I will get together with Monica and Keith to arrange followup work on 'Human Rights Defenders in N.Africa but for now Debora spoke in particular about Ibrahim Ezz El Din a researcher at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF) Cairo.
Our Woking Amnesty Quiz Friday12th March - Don't wait too long before obtaining tickets, the link to the zoom quiz meet will follow purchase of tickets so good to have that done in good time. Here below is the link to Eventbrite.
Our 'Woking Group' zoom quiz is coming up on Friday March 12th. Marilyn and Bob from the Guildford group are supporting which is wonderful. But we haven't sold many tickets within our own Woking group so please do if you can obtain a ticket and if possible invite a friend. Franko won't ask us to declare our scores so it's not really competitive. But anyone who thinks they have full marks can just say so and we'll send you a prize (Amnesty ts-hirt etc). We'll all be muted but we can see each other and wave greetings.
