Jonathan Lord MP has agreed to come to our next meeting to talk to us about human rights & the next government.  Thanks to Becca for organising this.  It is so important that he hears, not just from constituents who want to bring back hanging or deport all asylum seekers (because those people will be contacting him), but also from us.  Let him know that he has lively, interested constituents who want to defend the Human Rights Act, to treat refugees fairly and to have a UK foreign policy with an ethical perspective.

Do put 13th April in your diary. If you'd like to prepare, Amnesty's website has lots of advise on talking to parliamentary candidates here: https://www.amnesty.org.uk/actions/uk-election-2015-join-fight-rights

If there's time we'll also look at the resolutions to Amnesty's AGM, to decide which way to use the group vote.  You can see the resolutions here: https://www.amnesty.org.uk/sites/default/files/2015_agm_resolutions.pdf

Jan has kindly agreed to organise our stall in Asda on Saturday 2nd May.  If you can spare time to staff the stall, please let her know. jan.church@btopenworld.com

Do also take a moment to sign an Amnesty petition to defend the Human Rights Act - the more signatures we have, the more powerful it is http://keeptheact.uk/#signup-form
