Maziar Bahari: Then They Came for Me

Maziar Bahari: Then They Came for Me

Sunday 22nd April 5.00 p.m. The Shakespeare Centre, Henley Street, Stratford on Avon.

Iranian jouralist and filmmaker Maziar Bahari left London in June 2009 to cover Iran's presidential election, believing he'd return in just a few days. In fact he would spend the next three months in Iran's most notorious prison, enduring brutal interrogation sessions while terrible threats were made to his family. Then They Came for Me brings a uniquely personal insight to the political turmoil of Iran, as he delves into the country's history of political oppression through his family's experiences: his own imprisonment under Ahmadinejad, but also his father's in the time of the Shah and his sister's under Khomeini.

Maziar will be in coversation with Lindsey Hilsun, International Editor Channel 4 News.
