Syria Through A Lens - June meeting
The next meeting is on the 20th of June at 7.30 in the Liberal Jewish Synagogue (NW8 7HA).
We will be screening "Syria Through A Lens", a one hour film that brings together a collection of works by and about Bassel, capturing the beauty of Syria and the inspirational courage of the Syrian people in the face of tyranny and adversity.
Bassel Shehadeh (1984-2012) was a talented Syrian film producer and well-respected activist, killed on 28 May 2012 during a government assault on a neighbourhood in Homs, Syria. Shehadeh played an integral role in organising and documenting the peaceful protests that have swept Syria since March 2011.
The screening will be followed by a discussion that will in particular, highlight the peaceful activism which often gets overlooked among the increasing violence in Syria.
