We haven't got a "normal" meeting till January here's what we're doing (or not doing!!) till then- :

  • the Fundraising Meal on Wednesday 6th November has had to be CANCELLED because of lack of support - sorry if you were looking forward to it but insufficient people contacted Maureen to make it a viable event
  • The annual "GREETINGS CARD AND WRITE FOR RIGHTS" card and letter writing event will be on  Saturday 14th December 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Balmoral Centre, Salisbury Avenue, Westcliff-on-Sea SS0 7AU. Please try to come along, even if only for a short while, and send a couple of cards or letters to a prisoner or their family. We'll provide background notes, cards, envelopes, stamps and pens - plus a cup of tea or coffee and a mince pie. If you can't come but would like to make a donation to postage costs (minimum airmail overseas is currently 88p) please send it to 36 Orchard Avenue, Hockley Essex SS5 5BE  (cheques payable to Southend Amnesty Group) SEE ATTACHED POSTER
  • the first meeting in the New Year is at 7:30pm on Thursday 8th January 2014 at Avenue Baptist Church - Tony Fairman, AI UK Burma Co-ordinator, is coming to talk about campaigning on behalf of our PoC Dr Tun Aung and on Burma in general.

Some letter-writing notes for anybody who'd still like to take part in campaigning in the absence of meetings will be posted over the next few weeks
