Solihull Amnesty Group at Fun in the Park 2017

On 17 September 2017 Solihull held its annual event  Fun in the Park.  This sets out to deliver exactly what it says on the tin . It is an event held right in the centre of Solihull town and is opened by the mayor of Solihull at about 11:30am. It has stalls of all kinds, some selling items others promoting good causes, others informing the public about their work. It also has a dog show, fun fair, classic car show and shows and artists in the arena from midday until closing at 5pm. The weather was excellent until it came time to pack up the stalls and then the rain came down like stair rods. All the stall holders ran for shelter and waited for about 15 mins until it had stopped.

Solihull Amnesty Group had a stall which concentrated on Refugees with a display of photographs. Children were invited to colour in a picture of a Dove of Peace. Parents were invited to have a go at a simple quiz about refugees. We hoped that they also learned a bit more about the plight of refugees by taking part and talking to members of the group.
