Solihull Amnesty Group at Fun in the Park on 18th September

On Sunday 18 September Solihull Amnesty Group had a stall at the annual Fun in the Park event organised by Soroptimist International. The event took place in Tudor Grange Park.

There were lots of stalls from SMBC, charities and companies from all over the borough.  Hundreds of people turned out in the sunshine to enjoy the displays in the arena, the funfair rides, walk around the stalls, the dog show,  the Classic Car display and to spend some money.

The Amnesty group's stall this year was on the theme of' 'Hold out the hand of Hope to a Syrian refugee'. We invited members of the public to write a short message to refugees on a cut out of a hand. These yellow, blue or white hands were then displayed on a royal blue board. We invited children to draw a picture for refugees and the results of this were showed amazing understanding and support for refugees. We also invited members of the public to sign an Amnesty petition to reduce the amount of hate mail etc that has increased in recent weeks.

Take a look at our photos.
